SEASON SERIES: Tonight will be the fifth of six scheduled meetings this season between Ft. Worth and Corpus Christi. The Brahmas have dominated the season series to this point, winning all four of the previous meetings between the two teams this year. The Brahmas have downed the IceRays twice here in Ft. Worth and twice in Corpus Christi. In their last meeting, here in Ft. Worth on February 24th, Brahmas goaltender Kory Cooper stopped all 21 IceRays shots that he faced to lead the Brahmas to a 2-0 win. Ft. Worth and Corpus Christi will face off again in the final regular season game of year for both teams this Sunday, March 17th in Corpus.
FORT WORTH NOTES: With a win tonight over the IceRays, the Brahmas can clinch a spot in the CHL's President's Cup playoffs. The Brahmas can also clinch a playoff spot with a Tulsa loss this evening against Oklahoma City.Center Jeff Bateman was recalled to Utah of the AHL on Wednesday and he will not be with the Brahmas tonight.Winger Chad Woollard and center Joe Van Volsen continue to lead the Brahmas offense. Woollard has 8 goals and 5 assists in his last ten games for Ft. Worth, while Van Volsen leads the Brahmas in points this season with 64 (22G/42A).Ft. Worth has gotten hot at the right time, going 7-3 in their last ten games played.
CORPUS CHRISTI NOTES: The IceRays have struggled this season, and they were the first team eliminated from playoff contention nearly a month ago.Corpus Christi is winless in their last ten games (0-8-2).Forwards Kurt Wickenheiser and Layne Roland have been two bright spots this season for the 'Rays.The duo is tied for the IceRays team lead in points with 61. Roland has a team high 31 goals and Wickenheiser has assisted on a team best 39 scores.Forward Ken Goetz is fourth in the CHL in PIM with 320.
NEXT UP FOR THE BRAHMAS: Ft. Worth will play their final regular season home game tomorrow night against the Austin Ice Bats. Game time is 7:05 PM from the FWCC. The Brahmas will then wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 3:05 PM game in Corpus Christi.
