FSL names players of the week

The Florida State League named today the Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period May 16-22, 2005.

The Player of the Week was Vero Beach Dodgers Outfielder Matt Kemp. In six games he had seven hits in 25 plate appearances for a .280 Batting Average. His hits included five homeruns and two doubles. He scored seven runs and drove in 11 and also stole four bases. His slugging average was .960. Matt is in his third year of professional baseball and was with Columbus and Vero Beach last season. He resides in Midwest City, OK.

The Pitcher of the Week was Brevard County Lefthander Ryan Costello. He started two games and recorded a one-one record and 0.00 ERA. In 13 innings pitched, he allowed seven hits, three unearned runs, gave up three walks and struck out 15 batters. Ryan is in his fifth year of professional baseball and was with Huntsville last season. He resides in Marlton, NJ.
