Adirondack Frostbite News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Frostbite, proud member of the United Hockey League, announced today that the team acquired the rights to defenseman Mathieu Wathier in yesterday's league-wide waiver draft. In order to make room for Wathier on the team's playoff roster, the Frostbite released defenseman J.F. Picard.

Wathier is in his second professional season, but since he entered this season with fewer than 60 professional games on his resume, he is still classified a rookie by UHL rules. He began this season with the Danbury Trashers, appearing in 18 games before being traded to the Elmira Jackals in December. In 39 games with Elmira, Wathier posted three goals and added six assists to go along with 69 penalty minutes. Last season, he joined the Trashers at mid-season and tallied four points in 31 regular-season games. Wathier also appeared in 11 playoff games with Danbury.

The 22-year-old played five seasons in the QMJHL with Victoriaville, Sherbrooke, and Moncton, playing in 308 games and tallying 77 points.

Adirondack opens its best-of-seven first round series against the Muskegon Fury on Friday at Walker Arena in Muskegon. The Frostbite return home to host game three of the series on Wednesday, April 26 at 7:05 p.m., and game four on Friday, April 28 at 7:35 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
