
Frost Heaves' Defense Shuts Down Halifax

Barre, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves broke a 17-17 tie with a 10-3 run to close out the first quarter and coasted to a 123-78 victory over the Halifax Rainmen at the Barre Municipal Auditorium on Sunday afternoon.
Terrance Green paced the Frost Heaves with 28 points, including four three-pointers.
Vermont (26-4) placed five others in double figures, as Issa Konare added 16, Dokun Akingbade and Markus Austin contributed 12 apiece, and Brett Gravitt and newcomer Ted Skuchas scored 10 each.
Lantrice Green scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Rainmen (8-18).
Just before the game the Frost Heaves and the American Basketball Association jointly announced that the 2008 ABA All-Star Weekend will take place at the Aud in Barre on March 21st and 22nd. More details about the weekend, which will include Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contests as well as an East vs. West All-Star Game, will be announced as they become available.
After a road swing through Halifax and Montreal next weekend, the Frost Heaves will return to the Green Mountain State for three games in Burlington's Memorial Auditorium: A school-vacation special on Thursday, Feb. 28, against Montreal; a Saturday matinee on Saturday, March 1, that will celebrate both Aubuchon Hardware's 100th Aniversary and the 2004 University of Vermont NCAA tournament upset of Syracuse; and Fan Appreciation Day vs. Quebec on Sunday, March 2, when the Frost Heaves will thank their supporters with a special giveaway.
