Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

Barre, Vt.- The 2008 ABA All-Star Weekend will take place at the storied Barre Municipal Auditorium over the weekend of March 21 and 22, the Vermont Frost Heaves and the American Basketball Association jointly announced today.

The weekend will begin with Slam-Dunk and Three-Point Contests on Friday night, followed by an East vs. West game on Saturday afternoon. Each event will highlight the ABA's most talented players.

"We're thrilled to be welcoming talent from all over the world to 'the Aud,'" said Frost Heaves president Alexander Wolff. "USA Today has called it one of the Top 10 places in the U.S. to watch a game, and this will be the highest-octane basketball entertainment ever to take place on its floor. We're happy to be collaborating with our New England neighbors, the Manchester Millrats, who are assisting with the hosting and logistics of All-Star Weekend; and with our friends to the north, the.Quebec Kebekwa, hosts of the ABA Great Eight Championship set for the following week, as we use All-Star Weekend to promote what will be a terrific capstone to the ABA season in that world-class city, which is celebrating its 400th birthday."

As finalists in the 2007 ABA Championship Game and two of the top three teams in the current ABA Power Rankings, Vermont and Texas will send their head coaches-the Frost Heaves' Will Voigt and the Tycoons' Jean-Paul Afif-to lead the East and West, respectively.

With its world-class skiing, dining, lodging and attractions, Central Vermont is the perfect place for basketball fans to make a visit of multiple nights. More information for visitors can be found at vermontvacation.com.
