From Girl Scouts to Business Leaders

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - Saturday, March 31st the Chicago Storm and American Family Insurance teams up to present a day that salutes women, entitled From Girl Scouts to Business Leaders. A day set up to educate and entertain the young women with clinics, a career panel and examples of role models through out the day.

Starting at 8 a.m. the Chicago Storm players host a clinic for the Girls Scouts, teaching basic soccer skills. Following the clinic, the Girls Scouts are treated to a career panel that features successful women in business. At the conclusion of the career panel it's time for the Chicago Storm to take on the Baltimore Blast at 1 p.m. in a battle for postseason positioning, with a special national anthem performance by the New Beginnings Women's Chorus. At halftime the crowd is treated to a special exhibition game of the Chicago Force, Chicago's Professional Women's Tackle Football Team. Through out the day the Storm is raffling off a pink jersey signed by the entire Storm team with all the proceeds going to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Foundation. The Chicago Force is one of 32 teams that belong to the IWFL (Independent Woman's Football League) that stretches across the U.S. and Canada. The league has been in existence since 2000. The Force started play in 2003, compiling an impressive 30-10 overall record, earning a playoff berth all four seasons. Chicago competes in the Midwest Division of the Western Conference and plays an eight game regular season schedule against teams from Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri. With a beefed up coaching staff led by Jim Stahl, a nice mix of returning veterans and promising rookies, the Force have set their sights on the Super Bowl, which will be played August 11 in Atlanta , Georgia. The Force kicks off the 2007 campaign April 28 on the road against the Iowa Crush. The home opener is May 19, as they welcome the Detroit Demolition to town.
