Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia, PA, March 23, 2007 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today that Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has been named the title sponsor for the 2007 Nemours Philadelphia KiXX Summer Kamps. The program, offered to boys and girls ages four to 14, opens in late June and runs through the end of August at approximately 40 locations throughout the Tri-State area.
"I'm truly excited about having Nemours join us in providing outstanding soccer instruction to thousands of youth players throughout the region this summer," KiXX President Jeffrey Rotwitt stated. "Our organizations have a common goal of providing a positive and rewarding experience to the area youth and the summer camp program is an ideal avenue to reach this goal."
Each site offers the area youth the opportunity to learn directly from the professionals, with an approximate 15:1 ratio of campers to instructors. KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra serves as the overall camp director, while team captain Pat Morris and all-star goalkeeper Peter Pappas serve as individual site directors. Other team members that will provide instruction throughout the summer include Shawn Boney, Adam Bruckner, David Castellanos, Andy Guastaferro, Jason Hotchkin, Drew Kopp, Ptah Myers, Sandre Naumoski, John Barry Nusum, Clay Roberts, Steve Wacker and Scott Wimsey.
"Nemours is excited about this new partnership with the Philadelphia KiXX, which supports our goals of promoting healthy active lifestyles for children and their families," says Tom Ferry, CEO of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.
In addition to professional instruction from members of the Philadelphia KiXX, each participant in the summer camp program receives a certificate of participation, an official camp t-shirt and soccer ball, a voucher to the 2007-08 KiXX home opener, and a second free ticket to another 2007-08 KiXX home game.
Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and major children's specialty centers in Delaware (Wilmington), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr), New Jersey (Atlantic City and Voorhees), Florida (Jacksonville, Orlando and Pensacola), and many primary care pediatric practices throughout Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania. The newest division of Nemours, Nemours Health and Prevention Services (Newark DE), works with families and communities to help children grow up healthy.
Nemours provides institutions and services to improve the health of children. Employing over 400 pediatric physicians, subspecialists and surgeons, Nemours cared for approximately a quarter of a million children during nearly one million encounters in 2006, making Nemours one of the nation's largest children's health systems.
