Friday's Game Pits Express against Conference Forerunner

March 8, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Reading Express News Release

Reading, Pa. (March 8, 2011) - The Reading Express return home this week to take on the 2-0 Bloomington Extreme this Friday at Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. The Friday kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Express are coming off of a painstakingly close game in Chicago last weekend. The Express fell short to the Slaughter in a 59-55 decision that left Reading at 1-1. The Express had beaten the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks to start the season. Meanwhile, the Extreme have quickly proven themselves as a major contender in the IFL this season. The Illinois-based team throttled the Richmond Revolution 44-6 to open the season, and then posted an impressive 42-26 win versus the Green Bay Blizzard last weekend.

This Friday's game marks the first meeting between the Express and Extreme, but, at this point, one could easily believe that a potential Express playoff run later this season might go through Bloomington. This week's game may prove to be a major test for the Express, who hope to avoid a 1-2 start to the season.

Offensively, the Express are averaging 44 points per game, 125 passing yards, about 16 passing completions, and nine passing touchdowns per game. The Express' rushing defense continues to impress on defense. Last weekend, the Express held the Slaughter to negative-five yards rushing. On the season, the Express defense averages 42.5 points against, while giving up 248 yards per game. Thus far, the team has registered 107 tackles and three sacks.

As for the Extreme, the team is averaging 43 points per game, 163.5 passing yards, about 19 passing completions, and five passing touchdowns per game. On the defensive side, the Extreme are averaging 16 points against, while giving up 151 yards per game. The team has recorded 93 tackles and seven sacks.

Teach Appreciation Night: This Friday night marks the third annual Teacher Appreciation Night, presented by financial advisors Conor Delaney and Courtnie Nein of Waddell & Reed. The evening starts with a hospitality function for Berks County teachers, and culminates with a special halftime ceremony to recognize teachers with 25 years of devotion to the classroom.

Game Details: The Friday kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST. Tickets start at just $8. Call the Reading Express office at 610.372.7277 or visit the Sovereign Center box office to get your seats to Friday's game.

The Reading Express are one of the most established franchises in indoor football. In five seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 64-20 with four playoff appearances, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading begins play as a new member of the Indoor Football League. The team plays on The Reading Hospital Medical Group Field at Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa.

Tickets are now on sale at www.expressindoorfootball.com, or you can call the Express office at 610.372.PASS (7277) or visit the Sovereign Center box office to order.
