Fresno takes final game of series, 4-2

The Fresno Grizzlies earned their fifth victory of the season by edging the Tucson Sidewinders 4-2. LHP Jeff Urban picked up the win in relief for Fresno to even his record at 1-1. For Tucson, RHP Andrew Good took the loss to even up at 1-1 as well.

The star for Fresno was starting catcher Craig Kuzmic, who hit a tie-breaking 2-run shot that barely cleared the left field wall off Good in the top of the 6th. That lead would hold the rest of the game for Fresno. Kuzmic finished 1-3.

For Tucson, 3B Andy Green had a solid showing as he drove in 2 runs on his double in the fifth that tied up the game. He ended up going 3-5, with 2 RBIs. Tucson's starting pitcher Casey Fossum, making his first appearance with the Sidewinders on a rehab assignment, pitched 4 solid innings. He allowed 2 unearned runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. Fossum threw 68 pitches on the night.

With the win, the Grizzlies leveled the series at 2-2 and improved their record to 5-15. Tucson dropped to 12-7, but still remains in 1st place ahead of Sacramento. 2,355 fans came to see the Sidewinders wearing their throwback "Toro" uniforms. Time of game was a sliver under 3 hours at 2:58.

Tucson has a day off Wednesday the 28th,as they participate in the inaugural Sidewinders Celebrity Charity Golf Classic. On Thursday the 29th, the 2003 PCL Champion Sacramento RiverCats come to town. RHP Mike Wood (2-2, 2.91) will throw against Tucson's LHP Jon Cannon (1-0, 2.63). Game time will be 6:30 PM.
