Portland Beavers News Release
Portland, Ore.-Three Fresno pitchers combined for a two-hitter and Damon Minor homered in the third as the Fresno Grizzlies (12-15) shut down the Portland Beavers in front of 4,193 Friday night at PGE Park.
Fresno starting pitcher Matt Blank gave up both hits to Portland-one to Alex Pelaez, who blasted a two-run shot off the left field wall in the bottom of the third to give the Beavers a 2-1 lead. Blank was pulled after six, as Mike Johnson and Manny Aybar combined to keep the Beavers (19-10) hitless for the rest of the game.
Minor's home run off Carlton Loewer in the sixth tied the ballgame, and Todd Linden knocked in another run in the eighth to seal the deal for Fresno, stopping Portland's winning streak at four.
Notes...OF Brady Anderson was released from the club Friday evening.
