Fresno FC News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Football Club has announced today the hiring of Andrew Donnery as the organization's head coach for the U-23s Premier Development League side. Donnery replaces previously announced assistant coach Gordon Young, who has resigned to take an assistant role with Scottish Championship side Falkirk FC and the Scottish Football Association.
"I'm delighted to welcome Andrew to our technical staff," said Fresno FC head coach Adam Smith. "He holds a tremendous amount of knowledge in the game and has experience from around the globe. He understands the game of soccer at an extremely high level and I'm confident he will do a great job with our U23s."
Donnery has extensive soccer experience, as a pro player and coach both in England and the United States. He played as a youth for Liverpool and Everton, in college at Coastal Carolina University, and later professionally for the USL Pro Wilmington Hammerheads. After his playing career, Donnery worked for several organizations including California Youth Soccer Association's Cal North, the International Olympic Committee and as the director of operations for the University of California, Berkeley's soccer programs. He also coached the Bermuda U17 boys national team at the 2014 Cup of Nations tournament in Mexico and during the U17 World Cup Qualifiers. Most recently, he served as CEO and Academy Director of Elk Grove Soccer near Sacramento.
