
Frenzy Lose 7-6 to Warriors

Rome Frenzy News Release
The Rome Frenzy lost a tough battle to the Akwesasne Warriors. Vince Nucci scored at 1:35 in the opening period for Rome, assisted by Anthony Monte and Mike Maier. Ahmed Mahfouz came back to score for the Warriors, assisted by Addison Pelkey. The Frenzy answered that with two more goals in the first, one by Jeff Armando, with assists to Marcus Gustafsson and Leland Fidler, then Monte, with assists by Fidler and Maier. But Akwesasne closed the gap with a goal by Miguel Delisle assisted by Martin Beaulne and Carter Trevisani.
Monte scored his second for the night in less than a minute at the start of the second period. It was a shorthanded goal assisted by Nucci and Fidler. Luc Mazerolle got the next point for the Warriors on a powerplay assisted by Mahfouz. Rome came back with a goal by Tibor Varga, assisted by Kirill Doronin and Will Laporte, and another by Maier, assisted by Monte and Nucci. Akwesasne tied up the period with the next three, one by Delisle, assisted by Pelkey and Mahfouz, the next two by Beaulne, assisted by Trevisani, and Patrick Deraspe and Mazerolle.
The Warriors managed to pull through with the game winning goal at 18:55 in the third by Deraspe, assisted by Beaulne and Mahfouz.
Nicolas St. Laurent was in goal for the Warriors, stopping 38 of 44 shots. Rick Scarsella saved 38 out of 45 shots for the Frenzy.
The Rome Frenzy's next game is Friday January 7th at Bonnie Castle, taking on the 1000 Island Privateers.
