Free Throws Doom Flight Falls at Mobile 93-89

MOBILE, Dec. 3 – Bobby Simmons and Sean Colson each sank a pair of free throws in the final 15 seconds to cap an outstanding night at the line for Mobile in leading the Revelers to a 93-89 NBDL victory over the Huntsville Flight here Tuesday night at the Mobile Civic Center.

The Revelers (4-2) hit 28-of-30 from the line for 93.3 percent, overshadowing a stellar shooting night for the Flight (5-3). Huntsville hit a season-best 13 3-pointers in 17 attempts for 76.5 percent, but only converted 8-of-10 free throws.

Mike Wilks led all scorers with 26 points as he converted 11-of-13 shots including all four 3-point attempts. Lonnie Harrell added 20 points, tallying his team-best fourth 20-plus scoring game of the season, while Brandon Williams added 15 and Rodney Bias chipped in 12 along with a game-high nine rebounds off the bench.

Bobby Simmons led five Revelers in double digits with 20 points. Simmons got help from Ernest Brown who tallied 16 points, along with 14 from Seals and 12 apiece from Sean Colson and Derek Hood.

Down 48-40 at the half and then 67-65 after three quarters, the Flight took its first lead of the contest at 70-69 with 8:33 to play on a Bias bucket. The Revelers answered with three straight baskets to build the lead back to five with at 75-70 with seven minutes to play.

The Flight, though, rallied and retied the score twice again down the stretch at 79-all and then at 89-89, both on Wilks' baskets, but the Revelers' free throw shooting proved to be too much in the end.

Mobile also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Flight 42-23.

Huntsville returns to action Friday when they play host to Asheville in a 7:30 p.m. contest at the Von Braun Center. The Revelers' next game will also be at home against Asheville. Tipoff for that contest is 4 p.m. Sunday.

NOTE: The Flight's 94-81 victory from last Saturday against Columbus in the Von Braun Center will be aired on ESPN 2 Wednesday at 3 p.m.
