
NBDL TV Numbers Improve

GREENVILLE, S.C., December 3, 2002 â If the first two telecasts of the season are any indication, the National Basketball Development League is cultivating both a larger and younger television audience for its televised games.
After two televised games this season, the NBDL's household ratings have improved 40-percent overall from the same point a year ago. The first two telecasts of NBDL games this season have drawn a combined .14 rating, up from .10 at the same time during the league's inaugural season.
The most significant jump in the ratings has come from teens and adults age 18-to-34, according to numbers released by the NBA today. Viewership among teens has increased 160-percent from this time a year ago. The numbers among adults age 18-34 are up 80-percent, 88-percent among males 18-34.
The next NBDL telecast on ESPN2 is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, featuring the Columbus Riverdragons and the Huntsville Flight. The game, which was played on Nov.30, is being aired on a tape-delayed basis and will also be aired on NBA TV Thursday at noon.
