
Free Agent Signing Period Begins Today

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2003) -- Seven San Jose SaberCats, including former San Jose State University star Jerry Reese, head a list of 226 available unrestricted free agents as the Arena Football League opens its free agent signing period today.
Other unrestricted San Jose free agents include: DS Anthony Cobbs; QB Kevin Daft; OL/DL Brian Lytle; WR/LB Kevin McKenzie; OL/DL Cedric Pittman and FB/LB James Williams.
Reese (5-11, 200) has spent his entire seven-year AFL career with the SaberCats and ranks second in career receiving yards and touchdown receptions with 76. He also places in the top five in nine other career categories.
Cobbs, Lytle and Williams were all major components of San Jose's ArenaBowl Champion team in 2002.
The league's list of available free agents includes two former Ironman of the Year award winners (Hunkie Cooper and Dameon Porter), two former Offensive Player of the Year award winners (Eddie Brown and Mike Horacek), three former Lineman of the Year award winners (Tom Briggs, Carlos Fowler and Robert Stewart), two former Kicker of the Year award winners (Brian Gowins and Kenny Stucker) and a former Rookie of the Year award winner (Travis McGriff).
