The Frederick Keys Class Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles today named Ryan Sakamoto as the team's new Director of Public Relations.

Sakamoto joins the Keys after two seasons with the Bowie Baysox, the Orioles Double-A affiliate; serving first as a marketing intern in 2003, then as the Public Relations assistant during the 2004 season. As the Baysox Public Relations Assistant, Sakamoto served as Managing Editor of the team's Game Day Playbill and managed content on the Baysox official web site.

"We are very excited to have Ryan join the Keys," said Comcast-Spectacor Vice President of Minor League Operations Frank Miceli. "He brings an enthusiastic approach to the Keys which the media and our fans will truly enjoy. He knows what it takes to spread the good word of our team and we have all of the confidence in Ryan to make it happen."

As Director of Public Relations, Sakamoto will be the main point of contact for media looking to cover the Keys, as well as scheduling appearances for the Keys' mascot, Keyote and the team's Speaker's Bureau. Sakamoto will be responsible for telling the story of the Frederick Keys Baseball Club, as well as other events hosted at Harry Grove Stadium through the team's Game Day magazine and Cable 10 program "Key's Korner". Sakamoto will also work closely with Keys for Reading, a program designed to encourage local students to read.

Previous to his work in baseball, Sakamoto worked in the Sports Department at the Allentown Morning Call daily newspaper in Allentown, PA, The Diamondback student newspaper at the University of Maryland and The Washington Post.

Sakamoto, a native of Easton, PA graduated Easton Area High School in 1999 before attending the University of Maryland, College Park. He graduated from Maryland in December 2003, earning his degree in Communications with a concentration in Government and Politics.
