Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash - The Walla Walla Sweets announced that Frank Mutz will return as the manager in 2016 on Thursday morning. Mutz has been signed for the next three seasons as Sweets manager. He will return after a 22-31 campaign in 2015.
Mutz is also the head baseball coach at Chaminade College Preparatory High School in West Hills, CA.
After playing college baseball at The Master's College (Santa Clarita, CA), Mutz was drafted in the 23rd round by the California Angels in 1987 and played three seasons of minor league baseball. During that time, he amassed a 14-16 record with a 3.86 ERA in 299 and a third innings pitched.
"We are very excited to welcome Frank back to Walla Walla for the next couple of years" said general manager Katie Biagi. "Consistency in the managerial role is important as we work to develop a solid program and put a good product on the field for our fans."
"I am very familiar with the players we are getting," Mutz said. "Going into the season what your strengths are going to be is important and I know what I'm getting. The product we are putting on the field is much better than last year."
The Walla Walla Sweets will open the 2016 season presented by Columbia REA, on June 3 against the Victoria HarbourCats. Season tickets are on sale now.
