Franchise player and daytime stockbroker new to LumberJax
October 11, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Portland Lumberjax News Release
LumberJax Head Coach/GM Derek Keenan announced the signing of Damien Davis and Del Halladay today. Forward, Halladay brings eight years of NLL experience coming from the Colorado Mammoth, and is the first franchise player to be signed. Defenseman, Davis continues playing aggressive lacrosse for love of the game, while working as a stockbroker in Baltimore.
Through his eight years in the league, Halladay has tremendous career stats with 403 points (196 goals, 207 assists). The 5'11" 185lb, 32 year-old forward brings veteran talent to the expansion team this season. The Victoria, British Columbia native has won two Mann Cup National Championships with his hometown team the WLA Victoria Shamrocks. He is a powerful and agile player that can outwit most goalies in the league.
At 6'1" 215lb, Davis played college lacrosse at Princeton University, where he won the 2001 NCAA Championship. The defenseman played consistently in 14 of 16 games last season under Coach Keenan at the Anaheim Storm. The stockbroker has only been in the NLL since 2004, but will bring great college and professional experience to the Jax.
Davis and Halladay are two of the eight newest signed LumberJax. Their speed, resilience, and skills will lead them in the upcoming season getting under way in the Rose Garden on Saturday, January 21 at 7:30p against Halladay's former team the Colorado Mammoth.
Tickets to the LumberJax for each of the nine home games range from $10.00-$25.00, with additional VIP seating available. Deposits are now being accepted for season tickets starting at $90.00, by calling 503.235.8771 or go to www.PortlandJax.com.
