Stealth Sign Four Players For 2006 Campaign

SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth General Manager Johnny Mouradian announced today that the organization has signed forwards Curt Malawsky and Cam Sedgwick as well as defensemen Eric Martin and Shaydon Santos to one-year deals.

Malawsky returns to the Stealth for his second season after coming to San Jose in a trade from Buffalo before the 2005 season. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound forward posted 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 15 games for the Stealth last season. Malawsky notched 12 power play goals, which tied him for eighth-best in the NLL. An eight-year veteran, the Coquitlam, British Columbia native has amassed 374 points (178 goals, 196 assists) in 99 career NLL games.

Sedgwick, acquired from Arizona after Week One of the 2005 season, put up solid numbers for the Stealth last season. The Vancouver, British Columbia native scored 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) in 14 games. During the summer, Sedgwick played for the Burnaby Lakers of the Western Lacrosse Association, where he registered 49 points (seven goals, 42 assists) in 14 games.

Martin ranked fourth among all rookies in loose balls with 72 in 2005. A graduate of Salisbury University, where he helped lead his team to the Division III championship in 2004, the 6-foot-2, 215-pounder played for the Rochester Rattlers of the outdoor Major Lacrosse League in the summer.

Santos, San Jose's defensive coordinator in 2005, will be returning to the turf in 2006.. The founder of Rudeboys Lacrosse, a lacrosse clothing apparel line, Santos was a mainstay on the San Jose/Albany defense for four seasons. Prior to that he played in Buffalo and Rochester. In his eight years in the League, Santos has collected 84 points (33 goals, 51 assists) in 100 games, while scooping 398 loose balls.

"This is the start of getting all of our guys signed for the upcoming season," said Mouradian. "We're glad to have these four back and look forward to getting everyone else signed soon."

STEALTH HOLDS FIRST 2006 TRAINING CAMP

The 2006 Stealth will begin to take better shape after this weekend, as the team's rookies, as well as some local players, will be participating in the team's first round of training camp. This will mark the first time that some of these Stealth teammates have been on the same turf with each other in more than six months.

"With rookie camp coming up, we'll be looking to sign some of our younger guys after the weekend," said Mouradian. "We're really looking forward to our first practices with our new coaches and staff in place."

The first session of camp will be held from Oct. 14-16. All three dates are open to the public. The schedule is as follows:

Friday, Oct. 14 - Practice at Bladium 10 p.m. - Midnight

Saturday, Oct. 15 - Practice at Bladium 1-4 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 16 - Practice at Rollin' Ice 8-10 a.m.
