
Fourth of July Fireworks Both on and off the Field for the Blowfish

COLUMBIA, SC - The fourth of July fireworks at Capitol City Stadium could be seen both during and after the game as the Columbia Blowfish (12-19) offense exploded beating the Florence RedWolves (22-10) 10-3.
A night that saw 4 homeruns by Blowfish players, Chase Shelton (Charleston Southern) lead the charge going 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 2 homerun blasts to right centerfield.
The Blowfish offense started early by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, Chase Shelton hit a one out solo homerun to right centerfield, Reed Rohlmen (Clemson) singled to left and then Eric Barber (Central Florida) got in on the action as he blasted a two-run homerun to left centerfield.
The Blowfish would tack on a run in both the 3rd and 4th innings before Chase Shelton came up to bat again in the 5th inning with two outs and hit his second homerun this time a two-run shot to right center.
In the 6th inning the Blowfish would add two more runs and then in the top of the 8th inning JD Crowe (Francis Marion) hit a solo shot to right centerfield.
The Florence offense produced fireworks as well as they began the scoring in the 2nd inning, Brandon Rawe (Morehead State) singled with one out, Conor Sullivan then blasted a double to the left centerfield gap, then Gene Cone (South Carolina) stepped in with two outs and hit a two RBI double to the right centerfield gap.
The RedWolves offense would not score again until the 6th inning when Sullivan hit a triple to right and then would come around to score on an RBI triple by Cone two batters later.
Blowfish starting pitcher Trevor Hutto (USC-Aiken) went 6 strong innings allowing 3 earned runs, while striking out 4 on, 95 pitches.
Cody Dix (Francis Marion) would come on the mound and throw 3 strong innings in relief.
Florence starting pitcher Wales Toney (Clemson) pitched 4 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 6 hits.
The Columbia Blowfish next play at home tomorrow night against the Martinsville Mustangs, first pitch set for 7:05, with independence day fireworks to follow the game.
