Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday reassigned defenseman Gleason Fournier to the Grand Rapids Griffins from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye.

A native of Rimouski, Quebec, Fournier has skated in three games with the Griffins this season, recording four penalty minutes. The 21-year-old defenseman helped the Walleye to a 3-1 record as they played four games in five days last week, and they now lead the North Division with 23 points (11-7-0-1). Fournier has posted 18 points (2-16-18) and 34 penalty minutes in 59 career ECHL games.

The Griffins saw their AHL-best eight-game winning streak snapped yesterday afternoon with a 3-2 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals, but they'll be back in action when they host the Texas Stars on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The team will play 12 of its next 14 games at Van Andel Arena, including a season-high 10 home games during December. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
