3. OILERS ORIENTATION CAMP OPENS UP TOMORROW
The Oilers open up development camp tomorrow which gives prospects a chance to get together for on and off-ice testing culminating in the annual 4-on-4 intrasquad Billy Moores Cup.
All sessions take place at Rexall Place in Edmonton with some big names expected to take part in the week long camp including C Connor McDavid, C Leon Draisaitl, and D Darnell Nurse.
Other prospects taking part include three Condors signees (C Connor Rankin, LW Braden Christoffer, and C Alexis Loiseau) along with C Greg Chase and C Kyle Platzer who both finished last season in Oklahoma City.
4. OILERS ISSUE QUALIFYING OFFERS TO THREE PLAYERS
Three players, D Brandon Davidson, RW Tyler Pitlick, and D Justin Schultz, were issued qualifying offers yesterday by the Edmonton Oilers. Qualifying offers are sent to restricted free agents (players under the age of 27) in order to retain those players for the upcoming season. Restricted free agents have the option of signing the qualifying offer or can be sent an "offer sheet" by any other club, but the original club always has the option to match.
Of note, Davidson played 55 games in the AHL with Oklahoma City a year ago and Pitlick began the season with the Barons before being called up to Edmonton where he suffered a season-ending injury. Schultz played the entire season with the Oilers.
The man issuing these qualifying offers, Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli, gave a shout out to Bakersfield before making the first pick of the NHL Draft on Friday.
