Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Sioux Falls, SD- The central scouting bureau of the National Hockey League (NHL) announced its first list of the 2006-07 season last week and it included four Stampede players. A total of 48 USHL players were noted in the list, which is divided into three parts - "A" Players, "B" Players, and "Limited Viewing" Players.
According to the bureau, an "A" player is a "must see player identified as a potential top three round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft." A "B" player is a "player to note if you are in the area, a potential later round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft." The list is just that, a list. It is not the official mid-term ranking; that will be available in November.
Stampede forward Brad Malone was listed as an "A" player while fellow forwards Nick Dineen and Corey Tropp were listed on the "B" list. In addition, forward Alexi Dostoinov was listed under the "limited viewing" list.
Malone is in his first season with the Stampede and has three points (2g, 1a) in eight games so far this season. The Miramichi, New Brunswick native had a goal in the Stampede's 4-1 win Sunday in Ohio and currently leads the Stampede in penalty minutes with 30.
Dineen currently leads the team in goals scored with four and is tied for the team lead in total points with seven (4g, 3a). Dineen recorded his first career USHL hat-trick Monday night in Columbus and leads the team in the plus/minus category as a plus-6. The Omaha, NE native tallied 17 points (6g, 11a) in 53 games last year with the Herd.
Tropp is in his second season with the Stampede and is currently tied with Dineen for total points with seven (1g, 6a). He recorded three assists last Monday in Columbus and leads the team in that department with six total. The Grosse Pointe, MI native recorded 15 points (7g, 8a) in 46 games for the Stampede last season.
Dostoinov (Doy-stoin-off) has appeared in three games with the Stampede this season, registering one assist. Dostoinov spent last year playing for the Russian U-18 National Team where he recorded nine points (7g, 2a) in four games.
The Stampede return to the Sioux Falls Arena this Friday and Saturday against Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. Friday night is McDonald's "Starving Student Night." For just $5, students with a valid school ID will receive one (1) game ticket ($7.50 seating area) and a McDonald's coupon for a buy-one (1), get-one (1) free "Extra Value Meal." These tickets are available only at the Stampede Business Office (230 South Phillips Ave) until 2PM this Friday or in the arena front lobby prior to the game Friday.
