Yuma Scorpions News Release

The Yuma Scorpions found out yesterday that they have 4 south All Stars on the team. Two of these players received enough votes to push them on to the GBL All Star team.

Maikel Jova got off to an incredible start this year. Jova is currently batting .403 with 7 HRs, 53 RBIs, and 50 runs scored. Jova is ranked sixth in batting average, second in RBIs, and 3rd in runs scored. Jova leads the league in hits with 75.

Evan White has also boasted an incredible start to the year, shutting down some of the most prolific offenses in the league. White is 4-1 in seven starts this year. He also has a measly 3.99 ERA in a league that has an average ERA of 7.10. He is tied for the third most wins in the league. White has a 42/9 strikeout to walk ratio. This means for every batter he walks, he is getting a little under 5 to strikeout. He also is averaging just over 1 walk per game, which is also very strong.

Left Fielder Jeremy Cleveland also was named to the South All Stars Outfield. Jeremy is currently hitting .356, with 5 HRs, 36 RBIs, and 42 runs scored. He also as been walked more times than he has struck out. Cleveland has also earned his way onto the team with his defense. At least twice, Cleveland has brought back a homerun with a catch over the wall.

The final player to make the South All Star team is Jose Rodriguez. Although Rodriguez did not have as much playing time in the beginning of the year, he has stepped in as the daily DH perfectly. Rodriguez is batting .416, with 6 HRs, and 28 RBIs. He has also scored 23 runs for the Scorpions. Rodriguez is fourth in the league in On base percentage, with .474.

The Scorpions wish to extend their congratulations to all four of these players for their great accomplishments. We would like to especially recognize Jeremy Cleveland and Evan White, who will be going down to Texas next week to play for the GBL All Stars.
