Four Quakes Selected to Represent California League in Annual All-Star Game

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Four players from the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have been named to the 2007 California League All-Star squad. They will face off against the Carolina League All-Stars at their annual All-Star tilt to be held on Tuesday, June 19th at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, home of the Stockton Ports.

The list of Quakes All-Stars is headlined by dominant closer Darren O'Day. The 24-year old sidearming right-hander has been spectacular this season, posting a 3-0 record and an 0.87 ERA in 20 appearances. A native of Jacksonville, FL, the second-year pro is a perfect 10-for-10 in save opportunities. Right-hander Brok Butcher will also represent the Quakes. The 23-year old Camarillo, CA native is 3-4 on the season with a sparkling 1.80 ERA in 75 innings, covering 10 starts and two relief appearances.

The Quakes offense will be represented by OF Brad Coon and SS Hainley Statia, both of whom will serve as utility players for the California League. Coon, a 24-year old native of Euclid, OH owns a .300 average on the campaign with two homers, 37 runs scored, and 24 RBI. His 26 steals lead the loop. Statia, a 21-year old native of Curacao has a .272 average with a homer and 34 RBI. He's scored 31 runs and stolen 14 bases on the season while making some spectacular defensive plays at short. Statia was the recipient of the Angels' Defensive Player of the Month award for April of this season.

The Quakes trail only Lake Elsinore in terms of representation of teams in the circuit. The Storm will send six to Stockton for the game.

The Stockton Ports coaching and training staff, consisting of Field Manager Darren Bush, Pitching Coach Garvin Alston, Hitting Coach Tim Garland, and Trainer Doc Thorson will be managing the All-Star Squad.
