Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - Fans will have the opportunity to have their sports memorabilia appraised, then can add valuable new pieces to their collection with two very special, and unique events at Clear Channel Stadium this weekend as the JetHawks play their final home games of the first half of the season. The JetHawks, fighting for the first half title, will battle one of the teams chasing them for the crown, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, farm club of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The Beckett Sports Collectibles Roadshow is a brand new event making a special stop at Clear Channel Stadium. Based on the "Antiques Roadshow" concept from PBS television, experts from Beckett magazine will be on hand at Friday night's game to appraise fans' sports collectibles. Fans can bring in any sports collectible items, including baseball cards, game-used gear, and autographed items such as posters, pictures, bats, and balls and have them appraised through the seventh inning at a special booth located in the concourse of the stadium.
"We are constantly fielding phone calls and e-mails from collectors wanting to get an idea on the value of their collectibles. But it's almost impossible to give an opinion on an item without seeing and touching it in person. We are excited to be attending the JetHawks game on June 8 and offering fans a chance to talk with an expert about their personal treasures," said Mike Obert, Beckett Media Associate Publisher.
Beckett is the pre-eminent publisher of sports products in the United States. The stop in Lancaster on Friday will be the Roadshow's only California appearance during the baseball season.
Shirt Off Our Back Night is a popular returning promotion presented by the Flight Crew Booster Club. Saturday night, all JetHawks players and coaches will be wearing special replica Boston Red Sox uniform jerseys. Throughout the game, fans will have the chance to bid on the game-worn jerseys from each player and coach. After the game the winning bidder will go on the field to meet the player whose jersey they are the high bidder on and take a picture with their player and have the jersey autographed. In addition to the jersey auction, the Booster Club will also be raffling off an authentic Curt Schilling signed Red Sox jersey with all proceeds from the sale of this jersey donated to the ALS Foundation. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at each game leading up to Saturday's contest, with the winning ticket scheduled to be drawn late in the game.
Saturday night will also be the next opportunity for fans to take part in the highly popular Launch-A-Ball game. Fans can even pick up a complimentary Launch-A-Ball before the game at the Spa Shop, located at Ave. J and 20th St. West in Lancaster.
Thursday's homestand opener will be the JetHawks next Cheers Buck Beers Thursday. $1 draught beers will be on sale through the sixth inning. After the game on Sunday, kids will have the chance to come onto the field and run around the bases.
Great tickets for most JetHawks home games are available now. Contact the JetHawks box office by phone at (661) 726-5400 or online at www.JetHawks.com.
