October 5, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Alaska Wild News Release
DB Damien Huren intends to play for the Wild for the 2010 Season. The talent he will be bringing to our defense is amazing. Huren went to Southwestern Mississippi Community College, and then transferred to Mississippi State University, where he played for two years. Huren formally played for the Louisiana Swashbucklers for the past three years; helping them bring home three Indoor Football Championships in the Intense Football League and the SIFL. He was 2007 Intense Football League MVP, and came close to winning it again in 2008 and in 2009 in the Southern Indoor Football League. Out of 10 games played in 2009 he had 34 solo tackles, 13 assisted tackles and 6 interceptions.
Damien stands 6'1" and weighs 215 pounds. He is the size of a linebacker, but possesses the speed of a defensive back. He is known for plowing through offensive players with his amazing speed and bone crushing hits. His combination of speed, size and strength is going to be a potent weapon that he will bring to the team.
Pee Jay Jack standing 6'3, weighing 235 pounds joins the team as our quarterback. Jack went to college at Western Connecticut State University and was a freshman standout as the 2000 Pre-Season All-American. He played for three teams in the minor league, most currently the Orlando Rage, where he won them their second straight championship. Pee Jay was inducted into the Southern State Football League Hall of Fame in 2008. Jack is the SSFL record holding QB, 5 times SSFL All-Star, and MVP of the National Football Events in 2009. He has two Rice-Bowl Championships, and was considered to be 2009 Rice Bowl Offensive MVP.
His professional career includes Kissimmee Kreatures of the NIFL, Daytona Beach Thunder of the AIFL, Syracuse Soldiers of the AIFL, Florida Firecats of the AFL2, River Cit Rage of the UIF, and Florida Tuskers of the UFL. In 2009 Jack produced stats of 28 passing TD's, 7 rushing TD's, 1,934 passing yards, and 417 rushing yards. Not only does Jack bring to us his amazing quarterback skills, but he is an all around athlete. He also plays WR, KR, PR, and S. We are pleased to have him become apart of the Alaska Wild Family.
We are pleased to welcome Edwin James back to our family. He came to us in the beginning of the '09 Season, played two games and took an elbow injury, putting him out for the remainder of the season. Edwin James standing 6'1, weighing 210 pounds playing DB brings power to our defense. He played for Texas Southern University, home of the Tigers. James graduated from Texas Southern University with a BBA in Marketing. Not only does he bring his skills of football to the Wild, but also he also brings great marketing ideas to our team.
James was All Conference in his senior year in 2006. He was the leading DB in tackles in that conference. He also received the Tiger Award in 2005. He continued his football career playing for San Angelo Stampede Express in the IFL. James was an IFL All Star in '07 & '08. He had a record breaking 119 tackles in 2008 for the IFL.
James has had plenty of time to train and rehab his elbow for the 2010 Season. He's ready to grace the field with a winning attitude. "I plan to help bring a championship to Anchorage, while knocking helmets off in the process," stated James.
Eric Jackson attended Southeastern Louisiana University. He is another DB standing 6'1", weighing 182 pounds. Jackson is still young and new to Indoor football, but he still possesses the talent to bolster our defense.
This is only the beginning for the Alaska Wild. We started at the bottom and have no where to go, but up...IFL are you ready, because we're coming to win.
