Four Marauders Named Florida State League Mid-Season All Stars

Bradenton, FL - Four Marauders have been named Florida State League Mid-Season All Stars. Taylor Gushue, Luis Heredia, Connor Joe, and Kevin Newman were named to the South Division All-Star team. The 55th Florida State League All-Star Game will be played at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers on Saturday, June 18 at 7:05 p.m.

Gushue, 22, leads all FSL catchers in home runs with 5 and is second among catchers in slugging percentage (.406). He has caught more games this season (41) than any other catcher in the league. Gushue leads all catchers in total chances (341) and putouts (311). He also ranks in the top ten in caught stealing percentage.

Heredia, 21, ranks in the top five among FSL relievers in opponent batting average (.170), games finished (15), and fewest baserunners per 9 innings ratio (8.03). He is posting career-lows in ERA (0.70) and WHIP (0.85).

Joe, 23, is tied for second on the team in doubles (10), second in runs scored (26), third in at-bats (180), fourth in total bases (64), and fifth in hits (43).

Newman, 22, leads the FSL in batting average (.346) and on-base percentage (.414). His .858 OPS is fifth-highest in the FSL. Newman is the team-leader in batting average, on-base percentage, and OPS. MLB.com ranks him as the 11th best prospect in the Pirates organization. He will not play in the All-Star Game, as he is currently on the 7-Day Disabled List with an orbital fracture.

The Marauders play five home games at McKechnie Field before the Florida State League All-Star Game.
