
Four Dust Devils Earn Trip to All-Star Game

Four members of the Tri-City Dust Devils will make their way to Eugene on August 5th to take part in the 2014 Northwest League All-Star Game at PK Park. Pitchers Scott Firth and Helmis Rodriguez, infielder Cesar Galvez and outfielder Marcos Derkes earned the All-Star honors.
Firth, the Dust Devils closer, is second in the league with nine saves in 10 opportunities. Firth has a 0-1 record in 15 appearances this season, striking out 10 batters and holding a 2.08 ERA. Firth has only allowed three earned runs this season.
Rodriguez has been the ace of the pitching staff in his first season with the Dust Devils. Rodriguez has a Northwest League leading 2.01 ERA with a 3-4 record in eight starts this season. The lefty is also third in the league with 49 1/3 innings pitched and fifth with a 1.09 WHIP. Rodriguez was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 7th through July 13th this season.
Derkes is enjoying a breakout second season with Tri-City. Derkes has seen increases in his statistics across the board in 2014. He ranks fifth in the league with 13 stolen bases. Derkes leads the Dust Devils with 32 games played and 19 runs scored while ranking second with 27 hits and third with a .248 batting average. He has two home runs and three RBIs on the year.
Galvez has also shown improvement in his second season with the Dust Devils. Galvez is second on the team with a .271 batting average, eight stolen bases, and nine RBIs.
