May 7, 2019 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Wilmington Sharks News Release
The Wilmington Sharks are excited to welcome Citadel players Hunter Barbee, Tilo Skole, Cam Jenson, and Cameron Reeves to the 2019 team. These four will be the most amount of representatives from a single school for the Sharks in 2019.
"I have heard about Wilmington through my teammates that are playing alongside me and I am really excited to be in North Carolina and to play for the Sharks," said Reeves. "The program seems to have a lot of fan support and that is huge in the summer ball scene so it will be a summer that I am looking forward to."
Reeves was a two-sport athlete at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina prior to his arrival at The Citadel. During his junior year, he won state titles in both football and baseball. He hit .402 and posted a 6-2 record as a pitcher earning himself spot on the South Carolina All-State and All-Region teams. As a senior, he lowered his ERA to 1.40. He is currently a freshman with the Bulldogs and is primarily a pitcher.
Skole is also a freshman with the Bulldogs and is currently hitting .203 in 2019 after sitting out last season due to a medical redshirt. He was selected on to the All-Conference team three times while at Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee. He also spent time on the Science Hill Basketball team. His father Tony Skole is The Citadel Head Coach.
Barbee is currently a sophomore and has a 4.91 ERA so far this season. Last season as a freshman he posted a 5.68 ERA. He chose the Sharks primarily due to friendship ties to the city of Wilmington.
"One of my long-time friends goes to UNCW and she said that I would enjoy spending the summer there," said Barbee. "I also look forward to winning and being able to meet guys from other schools."
Jenson is currently a junior but is using a medical redshirt this season due to a broken wrist. He played in 29 games in 2018 and hit .196 and scored eleven runs. He hit .374 as a senior at J.L. Mann High School in Greenville South Carolina leading his team to back-to-back state titles in 2015 and 2016. Like Reeves, he made the All-Region and All-State teams in South Carolina.
His father Jay has served time as the Head Athletic Trainer with the Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Los Angeles Rams and his brother Adam is currently serving as the Clemson Basketball team manager. He knows what it is like to go somewhere for the summer to play baseball without knowing anyone having spent the summer of 2018 in the West Coast League in Oregon. This time however, he is excited to have the opportunity play with his teammates Tilo, Cameron, and Hunter.
"It is always good going into summer ball with some familiar faces," said Jenson. "Tilo, Hunter, and Cameron are all like brothers to me so it will be great having them around. We have a young team at The Citadel and all three of them are key players moving forward in the future so summer ball will be a good opportunity to build on the chemistry that we already have with each other."
