Laval Rocket News Release
LAVAL - The Hershey Bears defeated the Laval Rocket 6-3 at Place Bell Friday night, with four of those goals coming from Travis Boyd and two from Liam O'Brien.
O'Brien opened the scoring for the Bears a little more than halfway through the first period by taking advantage of a shorthanded breakaway to deke out Charlie Lindgren for his 10th of the season. Boyd later added to Hershey's lead with his first of four goals of the night while on the power play.
A successful penalty kill for the Rocket gave the team enough momentum to get themselves on the board in the second as Adam Cracknell perfectly deflected Noah Juulsen's shot behind Vitek Vanecek for his 20th goal of the year. Hershey re-gained their two-goal lead halfway through the period, but Antoine Waked made it a one-goal game after netting a breakaway goal of his own.
Boyd completed his hat trick for the Bears at the 8:26 mark of the third period and added a fourth goal seven minutes later. O'Brien got another shorthanded goal for the Bears in the empty Laval net to bring their total up to six. Luc-Olivier Blain scored his first in the Rocket uniform before the final buzzer.
"I'm here to help the team win, so obviously today I would have wished that [my goal] came under better circumstances," explained Blain after the game. "I'll take it as it happens, but like I said I'm here to help the team win.
The Rocket will be back in action at Place Bell tomorrow night against the Toronto Marlies.
