Furious Comeback Effort Leads Heat to 5-4 OT Win over San Jose
February 17, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release
Stockton, Calif. - A three goal lead by the San Jose Barracuda wasn't enough to hold off the Heat, as the Heat comeback to score three goals in the third period to tie the game and eventually win the game in overtime 5-4. After San Jose carried a 3-1 lead into the final 20-minutes of play, Stockton battled back with a goal from Austin Carroll early in the period to pull within two. Rasmus Andersson would cut the deficit to one moments later and would tie the game up with his second goal of the night at the tail end of the third period and send the game to overtime. In the extra session, it'd be a beautiful give and go between Hunter Shinkaruk and Oliver Kylington that resulted in Shinkaruk putting the puck in past Troy Grosenick to complete the comeback. Heat goalie Mason McDonald earned his first AHL win stopping 25 shots for the Stockton Heat. The Heat and Barracuda go for round two tomorrow for Safety Night presented by City Rise Safety and Law Enforcement Appreciation at 6:00 p.m., where the first 1,000 fans in the building will receive Heat sunglasses! It will also be Hockey Night in Stockton presented by Budweiser, where fans 21-years-old and over can purchase a Bud & Burger combo for $15. We'll also host another Heat Zone Pregame Party starting at 4:00 p.m., FREE and open to the public, featuring a kid's zone, food trucks, a beergarden, live music, and a car show with police and fire vehicles.
