USL League One has nominated Forward Madison's Don Smart for its Midseason MVP award, one of just five players to be considered for the honor. Smart has scored four goals and added three assists in the Flamingos' first 13 matches.
Smart, a veteran forward from Jamaica, has been the catalyst for FMFC's success this season. His 20 key passes are tied for third in League One, and he has recorded a team-leading 28 crosses with an accuracy rate of 35.7 percent and also chipped in defensively with 11 tackles won and 12 interceptions.
Forward Madison received additional League One recognition this Tuesday, when the league announced that midfielder Eric Leonard and defender Connor Tobin had both made the Team of the Week.
The Flamingos currently sit in seventh place, seeking to move up this Saturday as they travel to Statesboro, Ga. to take on second place South Georgia Tormenta FC.
