Forward Madison to Sell Potatoes to Fans
Published on November 18, 2019 under United Soccer League One (USL1)
Forward Madison FC News Release
Forward Madison FC is officially selling team-branded potatoes to its fans, the soccer team announced Monday. The Flamingos have sold merchandise in 49 states, but are missing Idaho, which means that the club had to find a creative way to target the state.
As a result, you can now buy a Forward Madison potato for $1.50 on the team's web store. The potato is the State Vegetable of Idaho, and serves as a general symbol of the state.
According to merchandise manager Chase Eagan, selling potatoes was the best way to find a buyer from the Gem State.
"We got our 49th state last weekend, so we had to do something to fill in the last empty spot on the map," Eagan said. "I think Idahoans won't be able to resist our team-branded potatoes."
Forward Madison finished fourth in its inaugural USL League One season in 2019, drawing a league-best 4,292 fans per game.
