Fort Lauderdale Strikers Sign Spanish Midfielder Dani Sánchez

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Thursday, January 29, 2015) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced the signing of veteran Spanish attacking midfielder Daniel Sánchez Andrades, commonly known as Dani Sánchez. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Dani Sánchez is a player who has gained valuable experience playing across the world," General Manager Amaury Nunes said. "He is a creative midfielder with a proven track record of assisting as well as scoring goals."

Sánchez, 30, started his career in Spain and has spent most of his playing time abroad. His soccer career has taken him to leagues in Spain, Scotland, Australia, Hong Kong,Thailand and now the United States.

"After my first contact with the Strikers I had no doubt about wanting to join the club," Sánchez said. "I was very impressed by the organization, and I am excited to be a part of the team and help win championships."

Sánchez got his start in the youth ranks of La Liga side Málaga CF. In 2003, he left his hometown club Málaga and played for the likes of Spanish sides Baza, Betis B, and Murcia B before going abroad in 2009.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle of Scotland's First Division signed the then 24-year-old Sánchez after a trial period in 2009. In his first season with the club, he made 32 appearances and scored four goals, helping Inverness earn promotion to the Premiership.

In June 2011, Sánchez joined Wellington Phoenix of the Australian A-league, where he scored seven times in 41 league appearances over two seasons.

He later played for Tuen Mun SA in the Hong Kong First Division and was most recently with Ayutthaya F.C. of the Thai Division 1 League.
