Forney continues to trim spring training roster

Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Barring any additional roster moves between now and tomorrow afternoon, Goldeyes manager Rick Forney is pretty close to setting his opening day roster.
Entering the day with 24 players on his spring training roster and needing to get down to a maximum of 22 players by 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Forney released southpaw Bryan Dumesnil and offered non-roster invitee Josue Gonzalez the opportunity to remain with the club as its bullpen catcher following Winnipeg's 8-2 loss to Fargo-Moorhead. Forney also signed outfielder Corey Stang, who was invited to training camp out of the club's April 29 open tryout.
Those moves, along with the Los Angeles Dodgers acquiring the contract of second baseman Eric Riggs, brought Winnipeg's roster to 21 players. All clubs must submit their opening day roster to the Northern League office by 1:00 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Goldeyes will work out tomorrow and Thursday in preparation for their home opener on Friday against Joliet. Game time is 7 p.m. and great seats are still available at all Ticketmaster locations.
