Memphis Xplorers News Release
Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 have appointed Deumaine Reeder as the new WR/LB Coach for the 2005 season. Reeder played with the Xplorers for three seasons from 2002 to 2004.
During his career with Memphis, Reeder played in 26 games, catching 15 touchdowns while averaging 35.3 receiving yards per game. He carried the ball 12 times for 21 yards and accumulated five rushing touchdowns. Reeder also returned kicks, including a 57-yard touchdown return in 2002.
On the defensive side, Reeder recorded 49 total tackles for the Xplorers, including 5 for a loss. He defended 15 passes, and had one interception.
Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto commented on Memphis' latest coaching addition. "Deumaine Reeder will be a big asset to this team this upcoming season. He certainly understands arena football, having just recently played, and he will be a great communicator with the young players, and his former teammates."
"Reeder played for Barto, he understands his coaching system, and he will implement that style very well because of that fact," added Xplorers General Manager Nate Yoder. "This is a natural transition for him to continue to be a part of professional football."
Reeder is an active member in the Mid-South community. He is a Memphis Job Corps Center recruiter, where he stresses education, learning a skill, and accountability. Reeder also serves as a youth minister at Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church. "His service in the community is second to none amongst Xplorers players," added Yoder.
"My heart is very much with the Xplorers," stated Reeder. "I have been with Coach Barto for a couple of years now, and have enjoyed working with him. I know his style and I am very excited to come on board."
Prior his playing days with the Xplorers, Reeder played for the AFL's now defunct Toronto Phantoms.
The Xplorers were ten games winners during their 2004 playoff season. For season ticket information call 662-393-3761. Memphis Xplorers Arena Football! Xciting! Xhilirating! Xtreme! Football!
