
Former Unc-Chapel Hill Attackman Jed Prossner Returns To North Carolina With Philadelphia Barrage

Cary, NC (Tuesday, June 17th, 2008) - Philadelphia Barrage attackman Jed Prossner will lead his team against the Rochester Rattlers, June 21st at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:30 PM. Prossner played his collegiate lacrosse at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was a first team All-American his junior and senior years. In 2004, he was a co-recipient of the Turnbull Trophy as the Tar Heels most valuable player.
Prossner started every game in his first three years at UNC, and lead the team in scoring each year. In 2002, Prossner received the Jay Gallagher Award as Carolina's top freshman. Prossner led the team his freshman year with 34 points.
In 2004, Prossner was a finalist for the Teewaaraton trophy, the pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States, alongside Rochester Rattler's Brodie Merrill. Prossner became the first men's lacrosse player in UNC history to be named a finalist for the trophy.
Last year Prossner played in 10 games for the Barrage, tallying 13 goals and 1 assist. This year, Prossner has gotten off to a great start, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists, despite only appearing in 2 games. In Prossner's best game of the season, he led the Barrage to an 18-12 victory over the Long Island Lizards, where he had 2 goals and 4 assists.
Prossner will lead the Barrage in what will prove to be a pivotal game against the Rattlers. Both teams sit at 3-2, tied for first in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia is coming off of a 12-11 overtime victory against the Chicago Machine, while the Rattlers are fresh off of a 16-12 loss to the New Jersey Pride. The Barrage square off against the Rattlers SaturdayJune 21st at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:30 PM.
