Texas Tycoons News Release
Bakersfield, CA - Former Texas Tycoon O'Neal Mims (6'10''-F-83, college: Angelo St.) is helping his new team, Bakersfield Jam, in the D-League this season. Mims who helped lead the Texas Tycoons to the ABA Final last season and 25 league victories came off the bench for the Jam and in just over 23 minutes was 3-4 from the field en route to a 7 point, 6 rebound, and 3 block performance in the Jam's 119-105 victory over the Anaheim Arsenal in D-League action Saturday Night. Some scouts draw a parallel in some aspects to Mims' game and that of former Jim Harrick Forward Lamar Odom (6'10''-F-79, college: Rhode Island). Harrick, now the head coach for Bakersfield, coached Odom at Rhode Island. Mims at 6'10 has guard skills and can put the ball on the floor and run the court and finish over bigs. Mims is hoping to take his game to the next level with the training he is receiving from his head coach. You can get more information on the Bakersfield Jam at www.nba.com/dleague/bakersfield.
