(Troy, OH) The Miami Valley Silverbacks professional indoor football team has added former Morehead State University All-American cornerback Kwesi Williams to the 2007 roster.

Kwesi, spent the 2006 NFL training camp with the San Diego Chargers, but wasn't able to make the squad. Kwesi's older brother Jamal Williams, is a Pro-Bowl nose tackle for the Chargers.

In 2005, Kwesi was named First Team NCAA Division I-AA Mid-Major All-American by the Sports Network and Don Hansen's Football Gazette. That season, Williams was credited for 66 tackles and four interceptions.

Williams will join former teammate and All-American Charles Byrd in the Silverbacks' defensive backfield.

Byrd has also had stints with both NFL and AFL teams before joining the Silverbacks.

"Kwesi will be a huge addition to our defense," stated Silverbacks Head Coach & General Manager Matthew King. "It will be nice to see him and Charles (Byrd) playing together again. Hopefully some of the chemistry and success that they had at Morehead State will transition over to our team."

The Silverbacks, a member of the Continental Indoor Football League, are gearing up for their 2007 home opener against the Chicago Slaughter on March 30th at Rapid Fire Field at Hobart Arena. Silverbacks' tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Hobart Arena, online at www.silverbacksfootball.com, or by calling (937) 339-2911.
