West Texas Roughnecks News Release

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Thursday, November 4 that former offensive lineman Peter Fields has officially signed with the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League. According to Pittsburgh Power officials, Fields was signed earlier in the week and will be joining the team in February for training camp. Fields (6'8", 325 lbs.) spent three seasons with the Roughnecks organization (2008-2010) where he started on the offensive line at right tackle. During the 2010 season Fields played in 15 total games with 14 starts (13 regular season games, one post-season game). Fields was part of an offensive line that only allowed 10 total sacks during the 2010 season, and he helped supply protection for QB Tommy Jones who finished third in the IFL with 2,487 passing yards and finished sixth overall with 42 touchdown passes.

"I'm excited about having the opportunity to play at the AFL level. I feel that this is an important step in my career, and I'm looking forward to the start of training camp. To be given the chance to play and help the team on the field is a great feeling." stated Fields.

In his second season as a starter in 2009 Fields started in 11 games for the Roughnecks. During that span Fields provided consistent protection in the passing game and was a key factor in the Roughnecks successful rushing game. Defensively, Fields recorded 2.5 total tackles including 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Following the 2009 season Fields held several workouts with NFL teams such as the Atlanta Falcons and the Miami Dolphins. Fields also held a workout with the Green Bay Packers from the Packers training camp facilities in August of 2009.

The Great Britain native was scouted by the Roughnecks at the John Lestini Group Free Agent Tryout held in Mobile, Alabama during Senior Bowl week in January of 2008. In his rookie season with the Roughnecks, Fields played in 14 total games (12 regular, two post-season). Fields would provide the Roughnecks with consistent pass protection and run blocking abilities in 2008 when the team was part of the Intense Football League. Fields recorded four total tackles and one tackle-for-loss on defense, and recorded a six-yard touchdown reception on offense. Fields capped off his rookie season with the Roughnecks by being named to the 2008 Intense Football League All-Star Team.
