Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze have agreed to terms with rookie wide receiver LaMark Brown, the team announced Thursday. A versatile pass catcher with outstanding size, Brown has played for several NFL teams.
"LaMark is the kind of player that really allows us to open up the playbook," said Head Coach Ron James. "He's very strong and has ability to use his body to his advantage as a receiver. He also played running back early in his career, and can do some special things with the ball in his hands. I'm really excited to have him in a Blaze uniform."
Brown (6-4, 224, Minnesota State-Mankato) signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent this past offseason. He played in all four preseason games and totaled six receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown. Brown was on the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as recently as a week ago, and has also spent significant time on the Buffalo Bills practice squad.
"I'm very grateful and excited about the opportunity I have with the Blaze to continue playing football," Brown said. "I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and coaches, and I am ready to help the team reach our goal."
A Missouri Native, Brown played at Kansas State during the first three years of his college career. He played in 29 games, seeing action at both running back and wide receiver. Brown recorded 45 receptions for 426 yards with three touchdowns while adding 412 yards and five scores on 118 carries.
Brown transferred to Minnesota State-Mankato for his final year of eligibility. In his only season playing for the Mavericks, he caught 31 passes for 405 yards with five touchdowns and added 98 yards with four more scores on 31 rushing attempts.
