Alabama Vipers News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Tennessee Valley Vipers head coach, Chris Williams, announced today that team has been assigned former Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman, Kendrick Rogers.

Rogers (6-6, 320) spent one season with the Eagles (2001) and three with Cardinals (2002-2004) after a brilliant career at Alabama A&M. The Mobile native played the 2003 season with the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL-Europe and signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in 2000. He played in five games for the Birmingham Steeldogs last season and recorded 6.0 tackles and forced a fumble.

"Kendrick is a superior athlete as is proven by his time spent in the NFL," Williams said. "He is still a young guy with a lot left in his tank. He will most definitely be a dominant force on the line for us this season."

He started his career at Alabama A&M on defense before moving to left tackle before his sophomore season. He was a two-time first team All-SWAC selection and an All-American selection as a senior in 2000. He started 34 straight games and did not allow a quarterback sack in his last 23 games.

The Vipers also picked up former Ashland University noseguard, Kevin Lacey (6-2, 295). He played in 30 games at Ashland from 2000-2002 and recorded 55 tackles, 9.0 sacks and 15.5 tackles-for-loss. He recorded 7.0 sacks as a senior in 2002.

The Vipers also hired Jared Lane as the team's Director of Player Personnel. He is the founder of All-Pro Combine Services, a scouting company which travels throughout the country hosting free-agent evaluation camps, in efforts to assist free agent prospects in obtaining the opportunity to play professional football. He is also the co-founder of the Indoor Football Scouting Bureau, a national scouting company that evaluates top college prospects from all division levels annually. He has scouted, and assisted in the placement of over 60 former Af2 players throughout his career. He is a graduate of Alabama State University, and Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery.
