VIERA, Fla. - The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Thursday that former Manatees infielder Eric Farris has been promoted to major league roster from Triple-A Nashville.

Farris was called up to replace Rickie Weeks, who placed on the 15-day disabled list after injuring his left ankle against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.

In 2009, Farris played in 124 games for the Manatees and was fourth in the Florida State League with a .298 batting average, third in hits with 141 and led the league with 70 stolen bases and 26 sacrifice hits. He was named both a mid-season and post-season FSL All-Star.

In 458 career games in the minors, Farris has stolen 152 bases and been caught stealing just 21 times. He has spent all of 2011 with the Nashville Sounds and in 98 games, Farris has racked up 101 hits and stolen 14 bases.

The Brewers drafted Farris in the fourth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft out of Loyola Marymount (Calif.) University.
