San Angelo Colts News Release
SAN ANGELO, Texas---Matt Duff, a former right-handed pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals, has signed a contract to pitch for the San Angelo Colts in 2009.
The graduate, from the University of Mississippi, has played at all levels of affiliated baseball. Duff began his career with the Padres organization and eventually climbed to the Majors, in 2002, with St. Louis.
During his time with the Cardinals, Duff delivered 5.2 innings while posting a 4.77 ERA. In his career, the Colts projected starter is 47-31 with a 3.25 ERA while striking out nearly ten batters every nine innings.
The veteran has also competed in the Red Sox and Blue Jays organizations.
Manager Doc Edwards is happy to see Duff on his team after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
"It's great to have him back. When he pitched here before, his arm was bothering him. Matt has been a quality pitcher before and I am hoping to see him pain free so the fans can see the real Matt Duff."
