
Former Jr. Blue Darren Rowe On USA Championship Team

Former Jr. Blue defenseman Darren Rowe was a member of the 2008 United States Junior Select Team that won the Gold Medal in Nelson, British Columbia two weeks ago.
The United States Junior Select Team used four power play goals enroute to a 7-1 victory over Canada West in the championship game of the 2008 World Junior A Challenge. The U.S. finished the tournament with a 4-0-0-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record to claim the championship. Rowe, a 5'-9", 175 lb defenseman from Simi Valley, California plays for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the United States Hockey League(USHL)this year. He was the Jr. Blues top-scoring defenseman in 2007-2008.
"It's an honor to see former Springfield players make it to a higher level and do well", said Jr. Blues Preside! nt Bob Gordon. "Our job is to develop players and move them up. Darren was an excellent defenseman and a quality kid. We are happy that others are seeing the talent that he posesses. They'll be more honors for Darren in the future and I expect that there will be others from our organization making some noise in the hockey world in the coming years", he added.
