
Former BlueSox Player Houck Drafted by Giants

Butler, PA - June 7, 2012 - Shayne Houck, infielder for the 2011 Butler BlueSox, was drafted in the 29th round (898th overall) by the San Francisco Giants in the first year MLB player draft.
Houck hit .347 with the BlueSox last summer which tied him with Kevan Smith (2010) for second all-time with the BlueSox. Houck set team records in doubles (19), RBIs (44), and home runs (10) including seven out of Pullman Park. He was also named a 2011 Prospect League All-Star.
Houck played collegiately at Kutztown University where he has career records in runs scored (216), hits (255), RBIs (202), doubles (64), home runs (44), and total bases (457).
There were 23 current and former Prospect League players drafted this year.
Houck is the third player drafted after playing for the BlueSox. Jacke Healey was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 27th round in 2010 and Kevan Smith was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 7th round in 2011.
