Former Blizzard Players Sign With AFL Teams

The Green Bay Blizzard has announced that three of their former players have signed contracts with teams in the Arena Football League (AFL).
WR/LB Robert Garth (6-2, 225, New Mexico State) has signed with the expansion Nashville Kats. "It's great to see him finally get a shot to play in the AFL," said Blizzard Managing Partner Brian Noble. "He's been in the af2 for four years. He did everything we ever asked him to, and he earned his shot. He's definitely paid his dues."
Noble also said that the announcement didn't really come as a surprise. "When I took the head coaching job last year I said that some of our players wouldn't be around long, that some of them were good enough to be playing at the next level. Garth was one of the guys I was talking about."
The all-time leader in touchdowns, receptions, receiving yards and interceptions for the Blizzard, Garth won numerous awards during his two years with the Blizzard, including ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his week 10 performance against Midwest Division rival Peoria Pirates, when he pulled in two interceptions and scored two defensive touchdowns as the Blizzard rolled to a 57-29 win.
In addition, QB Chris Greisen (6-3, 225, Northwest Missouri State), who led the Blizzard in every statistical category for passing, has signed with the Dallas Desperados. "He's definitely got the talent to play in the AFL," said Noble. "He left the team in the middle of the season, but when he did he was on pace to shatter every [af2] passing record there is. If he can play the entire season, he should put up some incredible numbers for Dallas."
Finally, WR/DB Torrey Day (6-0, 190, Alabama A&M) has signed with the Columbus Destroyers. Originally signed in June to reinforce an injury-depleted receiving corps, Day immediately impressed the team with his versatility. "Torrey was a great mid-season pickup for us," said Blizzard Director of Operations Elvis Ahlborn. "He only played in eight games [for us], but he was fifth on the team in all-purpose yards. Watching him last season I could tell he'd be playing in the AFL someday. Columbus got themselves a player."
