Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

Success starts small and becomes big, well at least that is the case for former Quad City Steamwheelers FB/LB Frank Trentadue. Trentadue, who now plays for the AFL's Arizona Rattlers, came away with two sacks for a loss of ten yards, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. He also rushed two times for three yards. He received Ironman of the Game honors and then received the Arena Football Leagues ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors announced earlier today.

Trentadue and the Rattlers took on the Las Vegas Gladiators, coincidentally coached by former Steamwheelers head coach Frank Haege. Trentadue did not play for Haege, but his head mentor in the Quad Cities last year and current Steamwheelers head coach Rich Ingold did recommend Trentadue to Haege. Haege did not take Ingold's recommendation believing that Trentadue would not make a big impact at the AFL level for him to sign him.

Haege also passed on Ingold's recommendations regarding former ‘Wheelers WR/LB Chris Anthony and DS Brent Browner. Anthony, who plays for the New York Dragons and Browner, who plays for the Detroit Fury have both been successful with their respective teams. Ironically Anthony was named the AFL's Rookie of the Month for the month of May. Detroit and New York both won their playoff games this past weekend.

Trentadue played in all 16 games with the ‘Wheelers last season, rushing 18 times for 49 yards and on the defensive side he came away with 20.5 tackles, five for a loss of 34 yards. He also added 11.5 sacks for 78 yards, three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, five blocked kicks and three safeties.

Trentadue and the Rattlers will now take on the Los Angeles Avengers on June 1st at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
