Florida Flight News Release
(Kissimmee, FL) - Dwayne Foreman's layup with three seconds remaining gave the Florida Flight a hard-fought 114-112 win over the Franklin Knights.
The game was close throughout, as neither team led by more than eight points at any time during the contest. Among those in attendance to watch the Flight's victory were 2010 Miss Florida USA Megan Clementi and the reigning Miss Central Florida Teen USA Rebecca Chisholm. Former Orlando Magic standout and Dallas Mavericks Assistant Coach Darrell Armstrong also came out to take in a game from Kissimmee, Florida's newest professional basketball team, signing autographs and taking pictures after the game.
Franklin trailed 112-107 in the final minute, but a three-point play by Jarrell Houston (who finished with a game-high 33 points) and two free throws for the visitors from Tennessee knotted the score at 112. That set the stage for Foreman's last-second heroics. Florida's Ernest Jones preserved the win when he raked the ball out of Houston's hands as the final horn sounded.
The Knights took a seven-point lead into the locker room at halftime, but the game turned in the third quarter when the Flight outscored the Knights 41-24, giving Florida a seven-point lead going into the final stanza.
Willie Irick led the Flight with 25 points, shooting a sizzling 9-11 from the field. He also collected a team-high eight rebounds. Trevor Bing finished with 20 points and Alex Hill contributed 18. Foreman finished with 17 to go along with six assists.
